Ridgewood is located almost center of Bergen county and was a part of Paramus until early 20th century.
Middle of 19th century, the Ramapo railroad reached to this town and it began to growing up.
Also, the middle of 19th century, the town changed it's name from Goodwinville to Ridgewood.
Thanks to the rail road which reaches to New York city, this town sharply grew up since then.
One of the most important and major highway, Route 17 runs middle of the county from south to north.
After passing Hackensack, a captal of the county, town of Paramus comes next and it's both side of the highway.
This town, Ridgewood is located northwest of Paramus. It's surrounded by Ho-Ho-Kus to north, Washington Township to east,
Paramus to southeast, Glen Rock to south, Midland Park to west and Waldwick to norhwest.
 
Behind of the railway station, there's a hill to area. A view from there is almost like an observatory.
This town is one of residential towns.
There're about 70 restaurants, deli, cafe, take out, coffee shop combined business and so on in this town only.
